Il progetto “EUCLASS for teachers and students” promosso dall’ENAC - Ente Nazionale Canossiano grazie al finanziamento della Commissione Europea, si è posto l'obiettivo di incrementare la dimensione europea delle nostre scuole avvicinando i cittadini, in questo caso studenti e insegnati, al processo di integrazione europea illustrando l’impatto che l’Unione Europea ha nella nostra vita quotidiana e i principi che stanno alla base del suo sviluppo.

Students and teachers at school of Europe

The “EUCLASS for teachers and students” project promoted by ENAC -Ente Nazionale Canossiano with the financial support of the European Commission, wishes to boost the European dimension of our schools. Its aim is to get citizens, in this case students and teachers, closer to the European integration process illustrating the impact the EU has on our daily lives and principles at the basis of its development.

L'Unione Europea nella scuola e al di fuori

Il progetto "BE-EU BEYOND EUCLASS" gestito dall'ENAC-Ente Nazionale Canossiano, desidera richiamare l'obiettivo principale dell'azione "Progetti Jean Monnet" facente parte dell'azione "Jean Monnet" del programma ERASMUS +, che è quella di promuovere l'educazione civica riguardando la Cittadinanza Europea democratica nelle scuole secondarie degli Stati membri europei e non solo.

Il progetto mirava a promuovere e moltiplicare le attività di informazione all'interno delle scuole sulla storia e il funzionamento dell'Unione Europea al fine di superare il problema legato alla scarca e cattiva informazione, soprattutto tra gli studenti, riguardo le questioni inerenti l'UE.

L'obiettivo specifico del progetto è stato quello di rafforzare il pensiero critico al fine di offrire ai giovani cittadini europei la capacità di formulare una loro opinione sull'Unione europea e di resistere alle azioni disinformative. L'obiettivo generale del progetto BE-EU è stato quello di fornire agli studenti conoscenze sull'argomento dell'Unione Europea rilevanti per la loro vita accademica e professionale e migliorare le loro abilità civiche promuovendo l'innovazione nell'insegnamento delle materie europee.

Gli obiettivi specifici del progetto sono stati:

- migliorare la conoscenza e la consapevolezza degli studenti nei confronti dell'Unione europea per sostenere lo sviluppo di una cittadinanza attiva;

- sensibilizzare e contribuire alla formazione degli insegnanti al fine di integrare le loro lezioni con argomenti legati al processo di integrazione europea attraverso un approccio interdisciplinare e illustrando anche le opportunità offerte dall'UE nel settore dell'istruzione e della formazione;

- promuovere l'innovazione nell'insegnamento delle tematiche europee attraverso la realizzazione di un video ideato dagli studenti.

Il raggiungimento di questi obiettivi è stato reso possibile attraverso una pluralità di eventi organizzati durante il progetto. Il numero totale di partecipanti è stato di 1549 di cui 1512 studenti e 37 insegnanti. Un totale di 56 scuole hanno in qualche modo preso parte al progetto.

The European Union at school and beyond

The project “BE-EU” BEYOND EUCLASS, managed by ENAC-Ente Nazionale Canossiano, recalls the main objective of the Action “Jean Monnet Projects” belonging to “Jean Monnet” Activity of the ERASMUS+ Programme, that is to promote civic education on European Democratic Citizenship in secondary schools within and beyond European Member States.

The project aimed to promote and multiply information activities within schools on the European Union history and functioning in order to overcome the lack of information and misunderstanding especially among students concerning EU related matters. The special focus of the project is to give a critical thinking about EU contents providing young European citizens the capacity to formulate their opinion on the EU and to resist misinforming actions. The general objective of BE-EU Project has been to equip students with knowledge on European Union subject relevant for their academic and professional lives and enhance their civic skills promoting innovation in teaching EU subjects.

The specific objectives of the project were:

- -- to improve the students’ knowledge and affection towards the European Union to support the development of an active citizenship

- - to make aware and to contribute to the training of teachers in order to integrate their courses with issues concerning the EU integration with an interdisciplinary approach and illustrating them the opportunities offered by the EU within the educational sector

- - to promote innovation in teaching EU subjects through the development of a video realized by students in which they can increase the knowledge and affection towards the European Union.

The project has achieved its objectives. The achievement of these objectives has been made possible through a plurality of events and deliverables that have been developed during the project lifetime. The project has two main target groups: teachers and students. These two groups have been the participants of the events organised during the project. Nevertheless the impact of the project goes beyond the direct beneficiaries of the project.

According to the plan presented in the Project Application form nine events out of ten have been organised during the project lifetime. The total number of participants has been 1549 of which 1512 students and 37 teachers. A total of 56 schools have somehow took part in the project.

L'Unione Europea nella scuola e al di fuori

Il titolo del progetto EUCLASS WIDER AND DEEPER rappresenta bene gli obiettivi che si è data ENAC grazie alla realizzazione di questo progetto: da un lato continuare il processo iniziato durante i precedenti progetti Jean Monnet, ampliando il numero di scuole, studenti e insegnanti che partecipano alle iniziative del progetto (WIDER ) e d’altro lato offrire a queste scuole, studenti e insegnanti interessati la possibilità di approfondire lo studio e l’apprendimento in merito alle tematiche riguardanti l’Unione Europea (DEEPER).

L’obiettivo principale del progetto è stato quindi quello di accrescere le conoscenze in merito alle questioni europea sia da parte degli studenti che degli insegnanti in modo da avvicinare l’Unione europea ai giovani aumentando il loro ruolo all’interno del sistema democratico europeo. Questo obiettivo generale è stato declinato in più obiettivi specifici:

- continuare ad illustrare il processo di integrazione UE agli studenti e offrire la possibilità di approfondire le conoscenze su aspetti e dimensioni specifiche legati all’UE:

– contribuire alla formazione degli insegnanti fornendo loro conoscenze e competenze per insegnare l’Unione Europea;

– creare una rete di scuole interessate ad una stabile cooperazione incentrata sull’insegnamento e sullo studio dell’UE:

– dare agli studenti italiani la possibilità di condividere le proprie percezioni sull’UE con altri studenti europei e non europei

Le attività che sono state svolte durante il progetto:

– 11 seminari rivolti agli studenti delle scuole secondarie e professionali (440 studenti)

– 2 Seminari didattici su specifiche questioni UE (80 studenti)

– 1 Conferenza di 3 giorni indirizzata agli insegnanti delle scuole superiori e professionali (30 insegnanti)

– una settimana di apprendimento sulle tematiche europee a Neumarkt (40 studenti)

– una International Learning Week a Ventotene (35 studenti)

Inoltre, durante il progetto, è stato organizzato un concorso per coinvolgere gli studenti oltre gli eventi, rafforzando verso l’integrazione europea. Inoltre, gli studenti che partecipano alle settimane di apprendimento svilupperanno una mostra di viaggio (EU-EXPO) sul processo di integrazione europea che sarà ospitato dalle scuole. Infine, durante la durata del progetto, sarà firmato un accordo con le scuole per stabilire una rete stabile delle scuole.

The European Union at school and beyond

The title of the EUCLASS WIDER AND DEEPER project represents well the objectives that the project aims to realize: on the one hand to continue the the mission started during the previous Jean Monnet projects, expanding the number of schools, students and teachers participating in the project initiatives (WIDER) and, on the other hand, offer to schools, students and teachers the opportunity to deepen their study and learning on issues concerning the European Union (DEEPER).

The main objective of the project was therefore to increase knowledge on European issues both by students and teachers in order to bring the European Union closer to young people by increasing their role within the European democratic system. This general objective has been declined into several specific objectives:

- to continue to illustrate the process of EU integration for students and to offer them the possibility to deepen their knowledge on specific aspects and dimensions related to the EU:

- to contribute to teacher training by providing them with knowledge and skills to teach the European Union;

- to create a network of schools interested in a stable cooperation focused on teaching and studying the EU:

- to give to students the opportunity to share their opinion on the EU with other European and non-European students.

The activities that have been carried out during the project:

- 11 seminars for secondary and vocational school students (440 students)

- 2 Educational seminars on specific EU issues (80 students)

- 1 3-day conference addressed to high school and professional teachers (30 teachers)

- a week of learning on European themes at Neumarkt (40 students)

- an International Learning Week in Ventotene (35 students)

Furthermore, during the project, a competition has been organized to involve students beyond events, strengthening their commitment towards European integration. In addition, students attended the learning weeks have contribute to develop a travel exhibition (EU-EXPO) on the process of European integration.

Nuove metodologie didattiche per insegnare il processo di integrazione europea nelle scuole

Il progetto EU GAMES continua la principale mission dei tre precedenti JMP, ovvero diffondere la conoscenza dei temi europei tra gli studenti delle scuole secondarie di secondo grado sviluppando nuovi strumenti e metodologie per affrontare le questioni europee.

Gli obiettivi di progetto sono:

- Migliorare la conoscenza degli studenti delle questioni europee;

- Migliorare le competenze dei docenti per insegnare le tematiche europee a scuola utilizzando metodologie di apprendimento attivo;

- Supportare gli studenti nel diventare discenti indipendenti, sviluppare un pensiero critico e abilità di cooperazione.

Per raggiungere questi obiettivi, il progetto svilupperà differenti eventi e attività utilizzando diversi metodi con un focus speciale su attività di gioco che suggeriscano metodi attivi che rendono l’apprendimento più coinvolgente per gli studenti.

Il progetto seguirà i seguenti step:

TRAINING PER COACH DEGLI EU GAMES: 10 studenti universitari parteciperanno a un’attività di formazione atta a trasferire ai partecipanti la conoscenza e le competenze per supportare gli alunni nella preparazione prima del quiz;

INTRODUZIONE AGLI EU GAMES: accademici ed esperti EU condurranno un’introduzione ai temi EU e illustreranno le regole dei giochi (24 seminari per un totale approssimativo di 720 studenti);

ATTIVITÀ DI COACHING: dopo la selezione delle classi coinvolte, gli studenti universitari supporteranno le classi selezionate a prepararsi in vista del quiz finale;

CONFERENZA PER INSEGNANTI: 30 insegnanti prenderanno parte a una conferenza residenziale diretta a migliorare la conoscenza dell’Europa come oggetto e soggetto di insegnamento;

EU GAMES: la parte finale coinvolgerà 8 scuole (140 studenti) in un quiz;

SETTIMANA DI APPRENDIMENTO: 40 studenti seguiranno un programma intensivo di apprendimento.

In parallelo a questi eventi, sarà sviluppato un piano di disseminazione per diffondere le attività di progetto (attraverso sito web, una mostra itinerante, un video-giornale storytelling sui temi EU per studenti).

Il progetto prevede il coinvolgimento diretto di differenti stakeholder.

New didactic methods to teach EU integration process at school

The EU GAMES project continues the main mission of the three previous JMPs, namely spreading the knowledge of European issues among secondary school students by developing new tools and methodologies to tackle European issues.

The project objectives are:

- to improve students' knowledge of European issues;

- to improve teachers' skills to teach European subjects at school using active learning methodologies;

- to support students in becoming independent learners, developing critical thinking and cooperation skills.

To reach these aims, the project will develop different events and activities using different methods with a special focus on game activities that suggest active methods that make learning more engaging for students.

The project will follow the following steps:

TRAINING FOR COACH OF EU GAMES: 10 university students will participate in a training activity designed to transfer to the participants the knowledge and skills to support the students in the preparation before the quiz;

EU GAMES INTRODUCTION: EU academics and experts will conduct an introduction to EU issues and illustrate the rules of the games (24 seminars for a total of approximately 720 students);

COACHING ACTIVITIES: after selecting the classes involved, university students will support the selected classes to prepare for the final quiz;

CONFERENCE FOR TEACHERS: 30 teachers will take part in a residential conference aimed at improving the knowledge of Europe as an object and subject of teaching;

EU GAMES: the final part will involve 8 schools (140 students) in a quiz;

LEARNING WEEK: 40 students will follow an intensive learning program.

In parallel to these events, a dissemination plan will be developed to disseminate the project activities (through a website, a traveling exhibition, a video-storytelling story on EU subjects for students).

The project involves the direct involvement of different stakeholders.
